Superhero: Patrick Sullivan

Patrick Sullivan inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in December 2017 for his phenomenal contributions to making data come to life through AIDSVu and HEPvu. Patrick loves big data - and he is one of the fortunate humans for whom a massive spreadsheet or table makes sense. Yet, he understood that data in this format was not useful for all of us. He first created AIDSvu in 2010 based on available data at the time and has since worked with epidemiologists to assure the most useful and relevant data is available via AIDSvu and HEPvu.  The websites were created as open source - allowing thousands of people to capitalize on his genius and work - bringing their own work to life. I've used AIDSvu myself, to map the number of CA providers on PleasePrEPMe.org with HIV incidence data on AIDSvu.  Patrick is, at his core, an generous and kind human being.  He is also ridiculously smart in the sense of both big numbers and expansive, visionary perspective. Patrick, thank you for mapping the world in a way that makes sense for the rest of us.  Love.
