This fall dear friends asked if I would marry them. Though I'd performed a wedding many years ago, this request prompted me to pursue becoming an ordained minister, making everything very official. I took the request very seriously, researching weddings and marriages online and checking a few books out of the library. I became lost, again, in the language of love but this time with the commitment and legal ceremony that comes with a wedding in mind.   Then a second request to marry a couple came in. So the auspicious transition to 2014 became a wedding at City Hall on New Year's Eve and a wedding atop Mt. Davidson on New Year's Day.Here we wait our chance at City Hall to witness love on the last day of the year. (Note to self: Love has so many stunning forms. A visit to San Francisco's City Hall on New Year's Eve will open your heart to possibility and beautiful shoes and kissing.) I'm incredibly grateful for our family's chance to stand with love, to see and know and feel that love wins.Mt. Davidson is one of my favorite high  places in San Francisco.  To ascend to this view, this height with some of my dearest friends and family was a delight. New Year's Day love looked like this. As Gina and Phyllis recited their wedding vows committing to fearless communication, being allies in good times and bad, promising to be sanctuaries of warmth and peace as they gave their love, friendship and loyalty to each other, legally sealing a 21-year relationship I realized: this is hundreds of thousands of love notes threaded together into a life time of love.I bow deeply to those who choose, those who are chosen, the chance to witness love and the inspiration to carry on in this journey of loving you. Thank you, dear friends, for showing me and my family what is possible. #lovewinsI choose you. Over and over again, love.
