The love looks amazing in Succulence
I'm a huge fan of Succulence, the Bernal Heights garden and succulent lifestyle store (formerly 4 Star video). The recent transformation curated by owners Ken and Amy Shelf has been an inspiring metamorphosis. Ken and Amy are long time supporters of independent artists, crafts and earth-honored living. They have encouraged and supported my kids when they launched their own business carrying their candles and cake stands, then supporting my love note writing adventure. One of the first epic live love note writing experiences happened as Succulence began its transformation during 2012 Bernal Heights Holiday stroll. I knew from the exchanges in that night, to keep going, keep making, writing, being love notes. As I've always given away my heART by hanging it (without permission, no less) on fences, it brings about that "you are naked in public" feeling to create pieces for sale. The redwood love note series first appeared at an art show and with a positive response and sales, I felt brave enough to approach Ken about carrying the heART in his store. He responded enthusiastically and I dropped off a small batch, still nervous about what it might look like in a store with such excellent taste as Succulence. Last week I had the occasion to pass by Succulence just before closing time and was beyond delighted to see the heART up and prominently displayed. It looks so good, just right, at home. The "yes, we are: BE OPEN" sign at the door gives me tiny goose bumps. The sentiment in that sign is Ken & Amy, is the succulent living they are creating. Walk into Succulence and be what you are, who you want - they'll love you right back.Thank you Ken & Amy for being a part of my "get love. give love." journey. To succulent living in every way!
