SuperShero: Linda Scruggs
Linda Scruggs inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in March 2015 for stunning, beautiful truth telling. I'd known Linda by name and through an email exchange but had never met her in person or known her story. During AIDS 2012 in Washington DC, Linda spoke during a plenary session about women and HIV. There is this concept of the collective unconscious - a belief that we are connected through inherited narratives that are both our own and everyone's. There are those of us who believe we can heal the collective unconscious as we heal ourselves. As I watched Linda, essentially a stranger to me, on the big screen at the International AIDS Conference she became both literally and figuartively larger than life. As she told her story, I felt a ripple of witnessing and healing travel through the collective unconscious of women whose stories have never been told, never healed. I'm learning as I get to know Linda, that this was not just her presentation for this talk. This is her way in the world - truth telling and walking in the light.(photo credit: www.stephaniegross.com)About the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude!“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David OrrI deeply admire those who "live well in their places." The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation. This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner - offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world. Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
