SuperShero: Joanne Keatley
Joanne Keatley inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in October 2014 at the U.S. Conference on AIDS for her gentle dedication to claiming the space rightfully deserved by transgender women and men. Joanne has been honored by many from the White House down for her work. I honor her for responding with calm and love, always. I've seen her change an entire room with her persistent, gentle way of being in this world. I admire her dedication and long-standing commitment to the cause of inclusion. It turns out her mama wants to wear the cape....see below for photos of dancing with Joanne's 90 year old mom. It's no secret where the spunk comes from! And good to know we'll have Joanne rocking it out decades from now.
About the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude!
“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David Orr
I deeply admire those who "live well in their places." The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation. This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner - offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world. Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
