inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in September 2020 for his exceptional work to create policy change in support of LGBTQ rights, prison reform, Ending the Epidemics, mental health, and substance use.

Most recently Senator Wiener has supported the advancement of PrEP access through the SB 159 bill allowing 60 days of PrEP and PEP through pharmacies.Scott Wiener and I both spoke on the steps of City Hall in 2014 in support of David Campos’ measure to the San Francisco board of supervisors to provide free PrEP to San Franciscans. Senator Weiner shared his personal PrEP experience and I advocated on behalf of women to be included in the HIV prevention conversation. At this time, I had already dreamed of and bought the domain name PleasePrEPMe.org. It would not be until June 11, 2015, to coincide with Los Angeles Pride’s PrEP theme, that PleasePrEPMe would be born as the first searchable and location responsive PrEP provider directory.I've since worked with Senator Wiener over the years, supporting him on legislation to decriminalize HIV and expand access to PrEP in California. When Senator Wiener came to a PleasePrEPMe staff meeting to present our team with Certificates of Achievement, we were delighted to virtually "cape" him with an extra long and very sparkly cape.
