Jeff Crowley inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in May 2014 for his work in the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama as the Director of the Office of National AIDS Policy from 2009 to 2011. I honor Jeff for LISTENING during the town hall sessions in preparation for the development of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. As a participant in the town hall process, I was ultimately completely taken by Jeff's playing the role of witness to all who cared to share their opinions and experiences related to such a policy. When the National HIV/AIDS Strategy was released in 2010, we all felt we'd played a role in the development. As I contemplate how we can effect social change, looking for big and small wins - I am reminded of Jeff and this powerful example of witnessing and listening.

About the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude!

“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David Orr

I deeply admire those who "live well in their places." The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation. This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner - offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world. Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
