Celeste Watkins-Hayes

inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in May 2019. Celeste has committed a decade of her life to answering the question, "How do human beings remake their lives after individual and/or structural trauma, and what conditions best support transformative change?”

Celeste pictured right with fellow superhero Michelle Lopez (left), caped during The Well Project's Women's Research Initiative meeting. In partnership with women living with HIV, Celeste has developed a paradigm-shifting model understanding the process from surviving to thriving, providing a roadmap for policy makers, providers and programs to make investments in structural supports that radically change lives. Look for her groundbreaking work in her forthcoming book: Remaking a life: How women living with HIV confront inequality.  I look forward to this new paradigm being the starting point from which new ideas begin.

About the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude

“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David OrrI deeply admire those who "live well in their places." The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation. This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner - offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world.Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
