Last night was my first art show. I had no idea what it would be like to hang love notes on an actual wall instead of a fence. I had carefully arranged my three series by size and color, written the title cards on paper love notes, and felt totally prepared. As I'd walked to the art gallery through SOMA, I'd passed many nooks in alleys where I usually hang my heART signs. It felt strange to leave these opportunities to catch someone's eye in transition and walk on to a gallery. I arrived at 111 Minna, walked the door and suddenly felt like that recurring childhood dream where I show up to the school field trip late. Naked. I wanted to turn around and walk out the door of the gallery. There were awesome artists (with frames on their art! so legitimate!) such a gorgeous venue, and beautiful people. I questioned if my work was worthy. With the kind and generous nature of the event organizer (Tom, you are awesome!) and holding on to a little piece of courage - I walked on in to the gallery and hung the installation.I'm learning part of making art (whatever art form that be, art being the gifts unique to you offered to the world), especially the best offering of one's art, is accompanied by an exceptional feeling of vulnerability. Last night this feeling of fear and exposure was juxtaposed by the massive high of later meeting, hugging, talking with someone who *gets* my work to the very core. Shivers. What an amazing "get love. give love." journey.       Love looks like this.  I'm so grateful for this awesome group of friends who attended last night's event with me.  Lucky me.   The love notes are in great company - an awesome skateboard graffiti artist to my right and mixed media mask sculpture maker to my right.  Thank you to all who bought pieces last night!Looking forward to tonight. The love is up and the fun continues from 8PM - 2 AM at 111 Minna.  See you there!
