"get love. give love." in action

Such happiness to walk out of the grocery store last week and bump into one of the Lovelies (my nickname for the BFFs who stand with you in the dark days as well as your days in the sun). She had her two year old daughter in the front of the grocery cart and as Lovely and I caught up, her two year old wanted attention. She tried to figure out how to join the conversation and then tried telling me what to do (awesome!). But her triumphant move was to lean over the cart's handle and offer me a bite of her soggy, partially eaten baguette. "You want to share with me?" I smiled. She nodded and as I leaned down to take bite she looked up to her mom for approval. Lovely responds brightly and then two year old has both of our happy attention. She'd been the recipient of much love in life and now she's learning to give or to share. How fun to witness this action of learning to give in such a simple way.

I was reminded of this experience as

love notes

from kids to adults have started coming in. You learn to "get love. give love." with practice, with some encouragement, and with a little praise. Perhaps we all just need the opportunity and a bit of blank space to put our giving back in writing.

These two notes from tween daughter to their moms are so heartfelt. Move over stereotypes about tween girls and mamas, pretty please!

This gem given to ME by a young girl who joined in the love note writing session at Succulence. I'm still flattered by the message made with bright colors and hearts coming out of the top of the tree....total brilliance. But even more, I loved meeting a brave heart who can throw down some love for a stranger without holding back. Watch out world!

My kindergartner nephew wrote this to do list for Saturday. Yes, the list making runs in the family. :) I do so enjoy that he came back and checked each thing off the list.

I'm so happy to see the proofs of love coming in.  You are such great love note writers, so creative, so full of happiness and delight. And take some cues from these kids - you can

get love. give love.

 so easily.

Write love notes. Share. Repeat.
