My kids and I were lucky enough to have just returned from a two week trip to NYC and Boston for our summer vacation. We (maybe should have a heavier emphasis on who instructed this to happen.....) carefully packed our bags to be able to move multiple times during the two week trip and still have room to carry a few wood love note signs to leave in the places we visited. My youngest carried this last sign in his bag for many days....Love is Louder. I'd saved this one for Boston thinking I'd find a memorial for the Boston Marathon and leave my love there. Having had two dear friends running in this year's marathon, I felt a personal, though distant, connection to the tragedy. At Copley Square, we visited the impromptu public memorial that grows by the day, a living reminder of loss and love. I thought I would come back and add my own running shoes and the "Love is louder" sign to the "altar" others had created.  But then we came across Arlington Street Church, across from Boston Common. A Unitarian congregation who had put pieces of fabric out for the public to write prayers and attach to their fence. Reminded me so of my own Dear Engine 26 public art project. I'd found my people. (Note to self: they are everywhere.)On our last day in Boston, we returned to Arlington Street Church to add our love,  pay homage to the collective prayers and celebrate the runners and good people of Boston. Dear Boston: Your Love is Louder.
