Perfect hit.

Image of a #LoveYou2 stenciled love note sign “everything will be okay” with a pair of black framed eyeglasses perched on top.

This sign was an early pandemmy placement.

Back when my mood was still somehow optimistic and I was doing things like 10,000 steps a day for a month.

Before I recognized this would be cyclical, my feelings that is. Or the pandemmy too.

Anyways, as luck would have it this hit near my home has stayed up for some time. And is now serving as a lost and found shelf. Which I love beyond. Because look how fine those frames are!

Sometimes I walk by this sign and want to take it down. Like it is painted by a more naive and rose-colored glasses version of myself. It’s like finding a practice sheet of block letters but we are doing cursive now - you missed a year.

But here’s the thing. The first-ever version of this sign…..I ended up coming outside and handwriting on it in sharpie “yes it will” below the formal text. Because 10+ years ago in a slump I questioned the quip also.

Here’s the thing - if it’s not okay the rides not over.

This dark part, the pain, is where we are growing. It takes time. And guts. But definitely time.

I’ve left the sign up. (She’s on Wilder in Glen Park.) The glasses have been claimed.

One day soon I’ll walk by that sign again and it will feel just barely out of reach true.
